Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. -I Corinthians 2:27
Prescription For Trying Times: A Poem
Christ has no body now, but yours.
No hands, no feet on earth, but yours.
Yours are the eyes through which
Christ looks compassion into the world.
Yours are the feet
with which Christ walks to do good.
Yours are the hands
with which Christ blesses the world.
God is present when and where the oppressed are liberated, the sick are healed, the outcast are invited in. We move our meditation today from the cosmic Christ to the immanent
Immanuel, from the powerful God to the Jesus who came close. This Lenten season, it’s not only important to remember the passion and resurrection of our King, but that the Word
became flesh in the first place.
