All Judah brought the tithes of grain, new wine and olive oil into the storerooms. I put Shelemiah the priest, Zadok the scribe, and a Levite named Pedaiah in charge of the storerooms and made Hanan son of Zakkur, the son of Mattaniah, their assistant, because they were considered trustworthy. They were made responsible for distributing the
supplies to their fellow Levites. Remember me for this, my God, and do not blot out what I have so faithfully done for the house of my God and its services. -Nehemiah 13:12-14
Prescription For Trying Times
The above scripture from Nehemiah is from a trying time in the history of the Jews. The purpose of giving of tithes is not so much to give back to God what is already his (although
that is true), as it is a demonstration of TRUST. The Jews were giving the very first of their crops (first fruits) to demonstrate their newly restored trust in their God.
Too Many Snow Days
How many school days can a child miss before it begins to have a real and lasting effect on his/her learning for the year? In my 40+ years in education, I cannot recall a winter when
we have missed so much school. Do you have any ideas about what we can do about it? Let me know at firstname.lastname@example.org.
